Meeting Recap for July 11, 2023

Last night our club met for the fifth time at Los Amigos Mexican Restaurant. So far everyone seems to be enjoying the new venue for our meetings and the restaurant has been happy to accomodate our group even though attendance was lacking a couple of times. Last night the room was nearly full and we still got timely service and really great food. Some members also enjoyed the benefit of the full service bar.

We kicked off our meeting with our social segment and noticed that everyone is really enjoying this time to network, exchange ideas, and make new contacts. Patty brought more fruit from her garden and there were a few new faces in person this time. We also had a first timer at our meeting who joined the club and donated $100! Steven is a Marine veteran and we are happy to welcome him as our newest member. Thank you for your service to our country.

Last night we had Robin Johnston McGehee as our guest speaker to talk about the recently approved city LGBTQ+ Liaison and the funds designated for Fresno County EOC and other LGBTQ community organizations in the area. Click below to watch her very informative talk about this and other things happening in our community.

We also had EJ Hinojosa at our meeting, candidate for Fresno County Supervisor District 3. EJ is an ally of our community and is asking for our support.

General Meeting July 11th at 5:30 PM

Join us for our July meeting with special guest speaker Robin Johnston McGehee.

Robin co-founded GetEQUAL, co-directed the National Equality March in 2009, and organized “Meet In The Middle” in 2009, among many other political, professional, and personal accomplishments. GetEQUAL, along with Robin, Lt. Dan Choi, and others risking their lives and careers, helped bring about the demise of “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell”. Years ago Robin once handcuffed herself to the fence of the whitehouse for the cause, and last year she was invited to, and attended, the signing of the “Respect For Marriage Act” by President Joe Biden at the White House.
