Fresno Stonewall Democrats unexpectedly lost a special member and tireless activist, Zoyer Zyndel, on December 26, 2020. Zoyer was a courageous and well respected leader in the transgender, progressive and LGBTQ communities. He served on many boards including Trans-E-Motion, PFLAG, Fresno Rainbow Pride, and was an out-spoken advocate and supporter for many issues. TRANSGENDER INMATE PROTECTIONSThe California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation will be required by law to ask all inmates for their gender identity, and to recognize and address inmates by their gender pronoun in all communications.The law also stipulates that transgender inmates must be housed at a facility matching their gender identity, unless the department can provide “a specific and articulable basis” for denying that housing due to security or management concerns, according to a Senate Source: 5 new California laws that go into effect in 2021 | The Fresno Bee
