With the blessing of his husband Juan, and with the call to bring us all together in comfort, we will be having a Remembrance and Celebration of the Life of our friend and leader, Jeffery Robinson this Saturday in the Tower District.

All are welcome to join us on the NE corner of Wishon and Olive Avenues in the Chicken Pie Shop parking lot at 11:30am.

We’re asking all to come in their rainbow and Pride best, raise your flags if you have them and accessorize with eyeglasses just like Jeff.

More details to come as soon as they’re available.

*Please note that any funeral services are still in the planning stages and will be shared at the family’s discretion when confirmed.

Rest in Power Jeffery Robinson

The Fresno Stonewall Democratic Club offers its sincere condolences to Juan Bustamonte and the Rainbow Pride Family for the loss of Jeffery Robinson, CEO of Fresno Rainbow Pride and Community Link.

For over 35 years he gave his life to strengthening and growing the Fresno LGBTQI+. He was the heart and soul of the Fresno queer community, his passing is devastating, and leaves a void that will be impossible to fill. He was a powerful role model and visionary who demonstrated strength, courage and caring for all of the community. He was a supportive father figure to many who were lost and confused and a friend to all. We will miss him and continue to work to strengthen the LGBTQI+ community. Rest in Power friend!

Meeting on Tuesday, February 8th at 5:30PM

Due to the recent surge of COVID infections we will be meeting only on Zoom this month.

Redistricting: Federal, State, and Local Outlook

Do you know who your legislator will be with the redistricting? Your representative in the House of Representatives, State Senate and Assembly, Board of Supervisors, and City Council? The lines have changed and led to a lot of confusion.

Attend the February Fresno Stonewall Meeting as Michael D. Evans, current chair of the Central California Coalition for Equitable Realignment (CCCFER), which monitored the redistricting process of legislative bodies in the Central Valley, explains the process and what to expect.

There will also be local candidates in attendance looking for your support!

Be prepared to ask questions about issues that are important to you! We have confirmed:

Esmeralda Soria, Fresno City Council Member and Candidate for State Assembly District 27

Laurin Hubbard, Candidate for Congressional District 22

Join us at this meeting to learn more about these candidates, be briefed on how the redistricting has changed things, and engage with other interested club members. Be more involved in your community and the election process this year.

ACLU: Legislation Affecting LGBTQ Rights Across The Country

If you think it’s just a few bills, you’re wrong. The number of bills in consideration across the country is overwhelming. Please click the link below to read more at ACLU’s website.

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in America continue to face discrimination in their daily lives. While more states every year work to pass laws to protect LGBTQ people, we continue to see state legislatures advancing bills that target transgender people, limit local protections, and allow the use of religion to discriminate.

Justin St. George recently established an off-campus organization to create a safe, inclusive, and discriminatory free environment for LGBTQ+ students and allied individuals through monthly meetings, community service, and educational symposiums. This was done after Fresno Pacific University denied his request to form a LGBTQ+ Pride Club on campus. He also created a faith-based coalition consisting of 17 Central Valley Christian leaders, securing meeting spaces for the group and a financial sponsor within days of fruition. More information is available on the Birds For Pride Instagram page.
